So You Own A Gun-Now What?

So You Own a Gun – Now What?

If you look at the increased number of firearms legally purchased in the last five years it is quite staggering.  According to the atf.gov website there were 147,484 firearms legally purchased in 2005. That number compared to the 826,393 that were legally purchased in 2010 obviously represents a significant increase.

Maybe you recently purchased a gun for the first time - so now what do you do? Well, it is important that you learn everything you need to know about gun safety. It is also important that you make time for consistent practice. Without practice – you will never become a proficient shooter. You will also never become comfortable enough to be able to defend yourself as much as potentially possible if the situation ever required it. In fact, there are several reports of gun owners trying to use their firearms to protect themselves and due to the lack of necessary training the perpetrator simply took the gun owners firearm and used it against the gun owner.
It seemed appropriate to begin this blog with the basics. We are going to discuss everything from how to store your firearm and ammunition to the basics of handling your firearm in the safest way possible. We will also feature a write-up on the benefits of properly  breaking –in your firearm. We are going to discuss the many different shooting techniques, the different types of handguns available for those of you who are maybe looking to upgrade or make your first purchase. We will even have special series on women and firearms.
